BiologyEdit

The Parasaurolophus of FMM UV-32 is fairly similar to its Earth counterpart, but typically maintains a bipedal stance even in spite of its short tail, contrary to the Parasaurolophus of Earth, that was mainly quadrupedal and only bore a bipedal stance when running or browsing high vegetation. FMM UV-32's Parasaurolophus only uses its forelimbs to balance itself when eating low-growing shrubs and mosses.

The most recognisable feature of this dinosaur is its bizzare head ornament - a long and elaborate cranial crest, something both the Earth and FMM UV-32 variants have in common. This crest can reach over 1.8 meters long in the largest individuals. The head crest forms a long, curved tube projecting upwards and back from the skull. This characteristic makes Parasaurolophus an easily identifiable target for hunters.

Inside the crest, a series of tubes and canals run throughout its length, and connecting with the nasal passages. Sucking in air through its nostrils, the air would circulate around the crest and out through the mouth. The tubes in the cranial crest resembles that of a musical instrument, amplifying the sound that left the Parasaur's mouth. As such, Parasaurolophus often communicate via soft trumpeting calls to one another, with higher notes serving as a mating call. The amplification of the sound also allows it to travel across long distances.

They grow to large sizes of around 5 - 8 meters in length, and weights of 4 tonnes. Despite its size, they is easily scared and can run at high speeds to escape, using their sleek and slender build to help them bolt away. With this nature, the fill the ecological role of large yet illusive herbivore, a role commonly filled by hadrosaurian dinosaurs.

Parasaurolophus is a common dinosaur in the Central Sector. At the bottom food-chain of the planet's ecosystem, they are easy prey for large carnivores like Tyrannosaurus. As such, they are plentiful and can often be found roaming most maps in the Central Sector. During the first tour, hunters began referring to them as the "One-Eared Rabbit", in reference to its skittish behavior, abundance, and single bony protrusion from its head.

Senses Edit

Parasaurolophus, being a novice-ranked dinosaur, has comparatively low senses compared to higher tier dinosaurs. It processes an average sense of sight, an average sense of smell, and an excellent sense of hearing. This can make hunting Parasaurolophus irritating to most DinoHunt clients, as making to much noise and not creeping along the ground with good wind can send the wary dinosaurs running. One thing to note is that the Parasaurolophus on the C1 string of islands, such as Basmachee Rocks, are much more likely to flee than those living on the C2 islands, like Delphaeus Hills, who are less skittish.

Fame Edit

The Parasaurolophus has become a famous and well-known huntable dinosaur among DinoHunt Corp. clients for a variety of reasons: It is a the first dinosaur many clients were allowed to hunt, its crest makes the animal easily recognizable to hunters, and its frustratingly fast speed and skittish nature. Along with this, it was one of the first eight dinosaurs discovered on the planet, along with Gallimimus, Pachycephalosaurus, Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, Triceratops, Velociraptor, and Tyrannosaurus.

Target Zone Edit

Parasaurolophus had a comparatively large target zone, covering its large head and continuing down to the base of the neck and halfway along its spine. Their large size amplified this, making them easy targets for novice hunters. However, if hitting the targeted area is not possible, it will usually take between 1 - 2 shots from more powerful weapons, such as the DinoHunt C2 Rifle, with only the 9mm Pistol using more (usually 3 bullets per Parasaur).

Official Appearances Edit

Parasaurolophus has appeared as a huntable animal is Carnivores, Carnivores 2, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter (mobile), Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter HD and Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter Reborn.

Other AppearancesEdit

Parasaurolophus appears in Carnivores Reloaded and Carnivores+, as well as mods that take place outside of the Carnivores Universe, like Jurassic Park Hunter and Jurassic Park Hunter Legends.
